President Cynthia Barratt joined CYNACON/OCuSOFT® staff members in adopting a local retirement center, Brazosview Nursing Home. Since Christmas 2002, employees have been donating spare change to go toward the "Christmas In July" project. Along with a contribution from the company, donations totaled over $600. Part of the money was used to buy toiletries and gift bags for all of the residents, while the rest was used to purchase 8 beautiful finches, a large birdcage, stand, and food and supplies for the birds. "Most of us agree that the holidays are special and the financial demands of our own are sometimes overwhelming," said Barratt. "With this in mind, we were told some seniors are only seen during the holidays. That's when it was suggested that a gift all could enjoy would be nice, but later in the year. I feel we made a difference that day - by caring. Thanks to everyone for their support of the project." |
