CYNACON/OCuSOFT®, a broad-based supplier of eye care products based in Richmond, Texas, is pleased to introduce HYDRATE Essential ™, a patent-pending formulation combining proprietary liposome technology with peer-reviewed ingredients to target dry eyes. Numerous scientific papers, articles and studies suggest that nutritional supplements may benefit individuals in a wide variety of conditions. Recently, there has been much discussion about the use of dietary flaxseed oil in the management of Dry Eye

Syndrome. Many reports have linked flaxseed oil (an n-3 fatty acid) to increased comfort when used to manage Dry Eye Syndrome. Researchers go on to suggest that, in general, most individuals could benefit from a diet that includes more n-3 fatty acids. Such therapy may also benefit other systems such as skin, mucosa, cardiovascular and the central nervous system.

HYDRATE Essential™ has been especially formulated to contain the n-3 fatty acid, flaxseed oil, but has also included evening primrose oil (EPO), a substance having exceptionally high content of the even rarer essential fatty acid, gamma-linolenic acid. These essential fatty acids (EFA) have been combined with bilberry extract (BBE) all of which are believed to provide anti-inflammatory properties-a component in Dry Eye Syndrome. Finally, hydroxylated lecithin has been used to micro-encapsulate the above in a proprietary liposome process. The result is improved absorption and sustained release activity for better bioavailability.
